Two histories of the Waltham Watch Company
1880 (19 pages, no ill) and 1921 (30 pages, no ill)
E.A. Marsh, who was the master mechanic at the Waltham Watch Company, wrote two histories of the company in 1890 and 1921.
Early History of Watchmaking in America (RC1), circa 1890, was published in History of Middlesex County, Massachusetts by D.H. Hurd. However, this book is difficult to obtain and so I decided to make it available as a free download.
This history forms part of the Waltham Watch Collection, volume RC-1, Baker Library, Harvard Business School. The download available here contains the whole of volume RC-1 which, in addition to the history, contains a long letter about the Waltham Watch company, written by E. Tracy in 1886.The second, History (RC2), circa 1921, has not been published until now and contains some information that I have not seen elsewhere. It is also available as a free download. This history forms the whole of the Waltham Watch Collection, volume RC-2, Baker Library, Harvard Business School.
Both books are provided as Adobe Acrobat PDF files:
